Shepherd, Poet, Warrior, King
“Shoot for the moon and even if you miss you’ll land among the stars.”
It’s a cliche that, unless you’re a middle school cheerleader, you probably don’t quote much. That said, it’s repeated for a reason. The Scriptures invite us to follow Jesus as our example (John 13:15) but even at our best we pale in comparison to him. We’re told that Jesus is the true and better king in the line of David (Romans 15:12). While we’re aiming for Jesus we do well to land among David. In fact, he is second only to Jesus in regards to the sheer volume of pages about him in the Bible. We’ll spend the fall digging into his life and the roles he models for us (shepherd, poet, warrior, king). Even more, we’ll ask the Lord to give us a glimpse of the one greater than him: Jesus, the Good Shepherd, man of sorrows, victor over death, and eternal king.
Join us in praying He’ll meet us there.
