Colossians

The letter to the Colossians is, put simply, the highest point of Christology in the whole New Testament. More than any other book, it puts the glory and majesty of Jesus on full display in theological terms. As such, we are excited to dive into this together as a church. It was written by the Apostle Paul within thirty years (about 62 a.d.) of Jesus’ death and resurrection. He wrote from Rome, perhaps while in prison. The major themes focus on two realities: who Christ is; and how his people should live in response. (a. Christ is Lord over all of creation, including the invisible realm. b. He has redeemed his people, enabling them to participate in his death, resurrection, and fullness.) While the gospel is simple enough for a child to grasp, it is also robust enough that we’ll spend our whole lives tapping into its depth and riches.
